What is the future of the book in the global village?
As our world is a global village consisting of communication devices that allow us to talk to each other at an instant, according to Marshall McLuhan, our world seems to be connected by the media. With keeping this notion in mind, within this CBC report, McLuhan tells us that the book is no longer "king". This means that the book is no longer dominant in todays society as information or research can be retreived from other sources such as the internet. Also, within this audio clip based on young people, McLuhan explains to us how the youth aids or furthers the global change from print to electronic media. He explains to us that in the eyes of a teenager, the book is losing it's appeal because the internet is more convinient. easily accessible from anywhere and has the ability to provide a vast amount of information at once.

The medium is the message - Marshall McLuhan
What is this wise man trying to say? Well, in my opinion, I believe that through this aphorism, Marshall McLuhan is trying to say that any form of media is irrevelant because the real form of "media" is from us, the human beings who communicate to each other. I feel that McLuhan is trying to express that the messages we convey are alot more revelant to society and create more of an impact or change. Whereas, what the media states can not always be true and may be sending the wrong message.
Global Village- Marshall McLuhan
I believe this aphorism means that everybody in the world is connected. With an increase in technology and electronic mass media, everybody in the world can interact and live on a global scale. We should credit mass media for the sole reason that barriers such as location and time that hinder human communication can be broken down. The term "global village" expresses that even though our world is so large, it can be transformed into a village because everybody can still be all connected and communicate with each other.

Macromedia Flash MX = A Frustrated Yuna
My first flash experience was a challenging experience as I found it hard to a) remember the topics that were taught to me in class, b) make ANYTHING move in my project and c) having the will to complete it. My flash project was about myself (and no, I am not conceited) as it talked about my favourite television shows, movies and described my personality. I also had to overcome many obstacles when doing my project. When I first wanted to present my project, I had realized that my pictures were too large and was not on the stage. Then, after believing I had finally fixed my flash project, another problem arose. The words in one scene got cut off and it was back to working on my assignment once more. Finally, after working on it for a while and adding the final touches, I finished my flash project.
On the other hand, I enjoyed doing the flash project because it gave me a chance to creatively express myself. I liked how I was given the freedom to talk about a topic of my choice for this assignment, as it enabled me to show my style and interests.
If I were given more time for this assignment, I would add more animation and tweens to it. Instead of making my project talk about me and what my interests were, I would rather speak about an issue that could inform others of current issues or a topic that would be more of interest to others. I would also add more colour and design to my flash project as it seemed a little dull.
If I were going to mark my flash project, I would give myself an 8 or 8.5 because I know I tried my best and did what the assignment asked me to do. I believe my flash project fulfilled all the requirements as it incorporated buttons, some animation/motion and scene changes.
